Winter 2012 Art Quilting Studio
My latest article is out in the current issue of Art Quilting Studio, titled Variations in Red, Fragments, Scraps and Remnants. The work in the article was inspired by a post on Robyn Gorden's blog: http://artpropelled.blogspot.com/, specifically this post: http://artpropelled.blogspot.com/2011/01/fragments-scraps-and-remnants.html
Through Robyn's blog I found Lisa Jurist's etsy shop which can be found here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/jmozart Lisa has many beautiful things in her shop right now! You can also read more about Lisa here: http://mudhoundprimitives.blogspot.com/ and see some of her inspiring work.

Detail Frock |
Frock in a Box is the name of a recent swap at paperwhimsy. Don't you love the name Frock in a Box? About 20 people participated and we didn't trade, but were assigned names so that everyone who made a Frock received a frock. These photos are the frock I made which was sent out to Carolyn H.

Second Sneak Peek of Show in June - "What Little Girls Are Made Of"
This is another Mixed Media Collage titled "What Little Girls Are Made Of" and it's 14" x 16". I made it using a scan of a vintage photo that was manipulated in Photoshop and printed out, papers, vintage rhinestone buttons, paper, and a dial from a retro bathroom scale. Details of the collage follow below.
This work will be included in the show in June 2011 at Glenview Mansion Gallery in Rockville, MD.

I'm using numbers as an element in my new work. For my last show the magnifying glass was a main element and while it appears again in some of the work, this time the numbers are a repeating theme. Many of the figures have a 'halo' made from vintage bathroom scale dials. The new pieces are paper sewn onto paper with some fabric added. I'm using buttons and other 3D elements on them as well. I'll be sharing more about my process as well as posting more photos each month. Hope to see you there at the show!
