Julie's Dream Detail Detail Detail Here is another piece for the show in June at Glenview Mansion Gallery in Rockville MD. A friend named Julie gave me the horse to use, the wood is from an ex-birdhouse that my uncle built, and there is a tin type and a washer in the hanging magnifying glass. The chain reminds me of old swing set chain before they became heavy duty and 'safe'.

While I can't bury my papers today for the Disintegration Project I did bundle them up and place them in the rusty container where they will reside until the un-bundling in May. When the ground unfreezes I'll likely bury the whole thing in the soft garden soil when they will do what they will. Many of my papers are very old...dating back to the 50's. Here are some of the latest results in my Shibori dye experiments. All of the blue ones above came out nicely. The white bundle below was an attempt to get some circles by tying marbles into the cloth. I believe that I didn't tie them tightly enough because the dye bled through all the fabric. I'm learning.

The white bundles in the photo became the colored pieces you see below. Since starting my "dye phase", I came across this website: TOBASIGN which has some good photos on how to sew and dye in the SHIBORI method. The how to photos were captioned in Japanese, so it's a good thing I'm a visual learner! The larger blue piece looks like a fossil to me and I like the organic look of the results.

So many sculptures to climb, so little time!Fluffy has learned to climb down the 'ladder' on this one.Only one of these four cats is ours and he has been neutered. The others are all our neighbor's cats that are related to ours, so they are comfortable hanging out together.

The cats love John's sculptures. Our cat is in the forefront on one sculpture and his sister sits up top in the other. They sit there for hours watching people go by or taking naps.
